Bridesmaid Dress Conflicts and Resolving Them

One of the biggest conflicts that happen when it comes
to a wedding is the one between brides and their
bridesmaids over the bridesmaids dresses. To help with
this problem, here are some tips on selecting
bridesmaids’ dresses.
Color - This is one thing that the bride should be
able to choose. But when you are choosing your color,
take into consideration your bridesmaids’ coloring.
Have a base color, but be willing to compromise on the
shade. The other thing that some brides do is to have
a rainbow wedding.

Style - This is something that your bridesmaids should
be able to help in choosing. Try not to choose a style
that is to garish or frilly. The best type of dress is
one that they can wear again to another formal dinner.

Remember, these dresses are dresses that your
bridesmaids will be paying for, and they should be
able to enjoy wearing them. So take that into
consideration and choose a style and color that will
make everyone happy.

You want to choose a style that will look good on all
of your bridesmaids and that enhance their best
features. When your bridesmaids are wearing dresses
that they like and they know that they look good in,
things will be a lot less stressful for everyone.

If you aren’t sure what type of dress will work for
everyone, talk to people at the bridal shops and they
will help you.

American Wedding Practices

Living in the United States makes one feel free - free to do anything, free to live, free to love, free from traditions.  While this is true, there are still many practices done during wedding that renders this memorable event with a distinct American touch.  Here are some:

Starting from the engagement, Americans can think of unique ways to personalize their wedding.  As there really isn't any engagement tradition, the more unique the marriage proposal is done, the better.

For most wedding preparations, the engaged couple visits their parents to inform them of their recent engagement.

At times, the engaged couple hosts an engagement party.  The engagement party costs less than a wedding reception since most of the time, the menu will only include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.  Therefore, if the couple is on a tight budget, they can just invite more guests to the engagement party if they plan to limit the number of guests during the wedding.

Most wedding preparations have a bridal shower given by the maid of honor and the bridesmaids.  The groom may also have a bachelor party the night before the wedding but he has to be careful not to drink too much.

Wedding invitations should include response cards to quickly inform the couple whether the person has accepted or declined the invitation.  The wedding invitations should also be sent within four to six weeks before the event.

Usually, there is a rehearsal dinner in which the wedding party and guests came from far places to be present at the wedding attend.  It was practiced that the groom's parents pay for this dinner.

A bridal luncheon may be hosted for the bride's attendants during the wedding day.  However, time constraints may not permit this to be part of the schedule for the wedding day.  Likewise, the groom may also host a groom's dinner for his groomsmen.

Interestingly, even if the couple is not very religious, they still prefer a religious ceremony.  However, this may pose a problem since in America people of different faiths and religious backgrounds get married.

Even if there are few people who believe in bad luck, some couples still make sure that the groom does not see his bride until she starts waking on the aisle.

It is still practiced that the groom and his groomsmen enter the church through a side door.  The bride will then walk down the aisle with her father.  In some cases when both her father and stepfather brought up the bride, she may ask them both to escort her.

During a formal reception, there is usually a bridal table where the couple and the attendants sit.  Also, food and drinks should be served as the guests appear at the reception.

Before, gift giving used to depend on what the guest will feel useful for the couple.  Now, it is better to register for gifts so the guests will know what to bring that the couple will need.

Upon receiving an engagement or wedding gift, it is better to send a thank you note apart from saying "thank you" to the giver.  This should be sent within two weeks upon receipt of the gift.  Make a personalized thank you note, instead of using an impersonal generic thank you note.

These are just some American practices during weddings.  Whether one chooses to this or prefers to have a very different wedding, what's more important is that American's still believe in the wedding vow, "For better or worse, 'til death do us part."

Bridal Set a gift for a lifetime

Being a bride is the most memorable occasion in a woman’s life.  On the special day, every bride wants to look her best and takes care that everything about her is perfect.  The glow on the bride’s face is natural and comes from the happiness within.  It all starts with those nice smelling bathing salts, the herbal treatments, the beautifully created wedding dress, the coiffured tresses, the enhancement of the facial features with the required make up, and finally the perfect jewelry to adorn the feminity of the bride, completes the bridal
look.

The perfection of her look depends on finding the bridal set perfect bridal jewelry.  The bride may find a perfect necklace to wear but may not find the matching earrings or the right bangles or bracelet or even ring to go with it.  A bridal set resolves this problem and saves a lot of time.  Bridal sets are jewelry made with the intention of putting together everything for that special occasion.  A bridal set comprises of a necklace, earrings, bangles/bracelets, and a ring that match and go well together.  All a bride needs to do is select the bridal set that goes with her look on the wedding day.

These bridal sets come in a variety of metals, like gold, silver, white gold, and platinum.  There are plain precious metal bridal sets and there are bridal sets set with precious stones, like diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires etc.  The choice of the type of bridal set depends on the expense and the affordability of the bride.

If you are the bride, you will have to take utmost care in selecting the bridal set.  First thing is the set of course, but don’t buy it just because you love the jewelry set.  The bridal set by itself may be beautiful, but you must see if it matches your dress.  Even a most expensive and beautiful wedding gown can look bad if worn with the wrong bridal set.  You don’t want any such thing to mar the occasion. Look into all factors when selecting the bridal set, like the style, quality and affordability.

Bridal sets look good because they were meant to be used together. All major jewelers stock several styles of bridal sets to suit all budgets. You can even use your bridal set after the wedding day.  When going out on those romantic dinners, you can wear just your earrings or you can choose to wear just the bracelet at times, or even the necklace.  Just because it is a bridal set, you don’t have to keep it aside like you do the wedding dress.  How would it feel wearing that jewelry on your first anniversary and reliving the special moments.

Make sure the bridal set does not completely overshadow the wedding gown.  The bridal set should fit in the theme of the wedding.  If the wedding dress is made up of a certain type of crystals, then your bridal set cannot be of pearls.  Keep in mind the overall look when buying jewelry for the big day.  Once that is taken care of, all you need to do is experience the feeling of satisfaction and thrill with the numerous compliments coming your way.

9 Ways To Cope With Wedding Speech Nerves

If you’re not used to public speaking, then making a wedding speech can be very daunting. With this in mind, I have prepared a few important tips to help you overcome your nerves and deliver a great wedding speech.

1. Remember these people are on your side. They aren’t secretly hoping you’ll mess things up. The reason you’re there giving a speech is because you are connected with the people there, and so are the audience. Bearing this in mind, you can rest assured that anything you say in your wedding speech will be listened to and respected fully.

Also, people listening to speeches at weddings are wanting to laugh as this breaks the tension. So any vague attempt of a joke will get you a response.

2. Practice your wedding speech thoroughly. The more your practice, the less nervous you’ll feel on the actual day. Remember to practice the intonation of your voice and the pauses. By showing you’ve put effort into your preparation, any mistakes you may make on the day will be easily forgiven.

3. Learn your speech by heart. Whenever you have some spare time, in the car on the way to work, in the shower or wherever…practice your speech. Repeat it over and over again as many times as you can before the big day. You will feel much calmer on the big day as you’ll know the whole speech inside out.

4. Remember to breathe. As simple as this sounds, it is often overlooked. Practice where you’ll take a breath in the speech, and learn to breathe correctly. Diaphragmatic breathing, as used by singers and public speakers, will help you here. If you’re unfamiliar with this, a quick search on Google will show you.

5. Think of a funny story before you stand up. Nothing so funny that you loose you focus, but something mildly titillating that will bring a smile to your face. This will loosen you up, and give a nice energy to your wedding speech that will improve the delivery immensely.

6. Have a banana 20 minutes before you make your speech. This tip is often used by professional public speakers, and helps the nerves of many people. It also gives a nice energy boost which helps reduce your nerves.

7. Speak slowly and clearly. If you are nervous, you will feel the urge to speed up and your speech will become unclear. So try to consciously slow yourself down and speak clear so people can hear what you say.

8. Make eye contact with people in the audience so it feels like your just chatting with everyone who is there.

9. Lastly, remember to simply enjoy yourself! Your life isn’t going to end if you make a few mistakes…and it will be over in just a few minutes. Have fun!

A Guide To Wedding Gift Ideas

A marriage is a joyous moment in the life of two individuals. A couple shares this beautiful personal moment with their near and dear ones, who rejoice in their happiness. A wedding gift is a tangible depiction of the feelings of the giver for the couple. A gift has to be carefully chosen, keeping the couple’s individual tastes, likes and dislikes in mind, if it is intended to serve its purpose. Nothing is more distasteful and insulting than an inconsiderately given gift. A gift’s value is not determined by its monetary value, but it must communicate the giver’s thought appropriately and adequately.

While the market abounds in numerous gift options and alternatives, selecting the right gift for the couple can be a challenge sometimes. While one can overhaul the market, surf the net and burn a hole in the purse, choosing the perfect gift requires some thinking and a little homework. A giver should always strive to give something unique and different. MODERN DESIGN KEY HOLDER FOR WOMEN *GREAT GIFT IDEA FOR FRIENDS, LOVED ONES, WEDDING, HOUSE WARMING, ETC"

Personalized gifts always stand out and make a personal statement on behalf of the giver. A special memento, decorative crystal, or a paired watch with the couple’s names engraved in it along with the wedding date is something memorable for the wedding couple.

For very close relatives, a hand-made scrapbook complete with family pictures, or a family tree platter with hand-painted pictures of family members along with their names, signature photo quilts, or customized ceramic plates with the couples pictures and wedding dates etched on it are a few ideal gift options.

In case of a hard-core golf fan, one can give a golf set with the couple’s names engraved on it. A Bible with the couple’s names and wedding dates engraved on it is an ideal gift for a spiritually inclined couple. It is necessary to be aware and informed about a couple’s interests, hobbies, tastes and the like. A gift can be given based on this kind of information. Romantic gifts like photo pillows with the couple’s portraits on it can also be given. One can also give gift certificates, home décor items, classic gift items like crystal and silverware, or various wedding mementos like a polymer clay image or metal candles, just right for the mantel and keepsakes.

The choice of exchanging gifts for each other rests on the bride and the groom. Couples can exchange framed love poems, engraved jewelry or even unconventional items like a vintage car, for those who can afford it. A thoughtful gift certificate to a relaxing spa or a recreational resort is just the right way for the bride or bridegroom to express their gratitude and love for their parents. It is the thought that matters, and mere framed poetry or a handwritten letter to the parent is also as valuable, if not more.

Parents can give bridal showers, a party to acquaint the couple to the family, or some personalized gift items, including gift certificates. Thank-you gifts need not be expensive, but should cater to individual taste. It should be given according to the kind of relationship one shares with the guests.

How To Be A Good Guest On Evening Weddings

Weddings were almost always held during daytime in the past. But like evolution, the customs and norms on weddings have also evolved over time.

Most couples nowadays find evening weddings more romantic and ideal. Evening weddings have increased popularity over time.

People see weddings, especially receptions as a perfect time to mingle with old and new friends and generally socialize. However, only few know that several wedding etiquettes do exist for evening weddings.

As for almost any issue hounding etiquettes on weddings, you will be surprised how evening wedding etiquettes mainly revolve around the most basic issue and concern on weddings--- attires.

For the bride and the groom, it is surprising that not much is expected during evening weddings. Evening weddings, according to several etiquette books and guides, should be treated as if they were daytime wedding. But take note, the case only applies to brides and grooms.

Being a nice and good guest, you are expected to follow several practical and unwritten guidelines. You would not want to create a bad impression to people, don’t you?

To illustrate the most common dilemma encountered by guests, who really try hard to be good guests, read on for a sample situation that you may have encountered in the past.

An evening wedding situation

Annie was invited to the wedding of a high school friend. The event poses a lot of excitement to her because she sees it as an opportunity to touch base and catch up with old high school friends.

Thus, Annie wants to make sure she will create a good and fashionable impression on that night. She wants to show everyone how she has improved and gotten prettier and foxier over the years.

However, one concerning factor about the wedding was that it is an evening wedding. Annie has attended just a couple of evening weddings before, and those were informal events, unlike this forthcoming one.

The invitation sent to her clearly and boldly emphasized that the guests are expected to come in formal attire. Ahh, Annie thought. That would be to her advantage. She will more exuberate radiance through a beautifully made gown. Blush By Us Angels Girls 7-16 A-line Print Necklace Dress, Leopard, 7

The wedding night of her friend turned out to be disaster for Annie. Why? Because with her utmost desire to ‘dress to impress,’ she found that she over did it.

Annie wear a very beautiful and radiant fire-engine red gown. The dress accentuated her figure, and no wonder, she was really beautiful. Evening Bag - Paige (Cloud-Silver)

If she was beautiful on her gown, what went wrong? What happened in the evening wedding that made Annie want to run out instantly from the event?

Apparently, Annie unintentionally stole the bride’s wedding thunder. Since she came in flaming red and beautiful gown, all eyes were on her during the wedding. Some people, to her dismay, also came to congratulate her, mistakenly identifying her as the bride.

It can never be flattering. Not all eyes were smiling to Annie. The bride’s eyes were flaming red, with anger! All the bride’s maids, and almost all the ladies in the ceremony showed those disgusted and unwanting looks to Annie. She thought, she should never have attended that evening wedding.

Dress for the occasion

Evening wedding invitations that bear the phrase “black tie optional,” indicates that the evening wedding is meant to be a formal gathering and the hosts intend the guests to appear formal.

Men are expected to appear in their tuxedos and women in their evening ball gowns.

For the burden of the ladies, they should first find out about the wedding colors and motifs before showing up at the wedding. Otherwise, they, for sure, would not want to catch hot and daunting eyes during the entire ceremony until the reception.

For the ladies, remember not over do it. Do not steal the thunder from the bride. Do not out do the bride’s maids, the maid of honors and the bride’s mom as well.

Dress down. Find a suitable color and design of the gown that can attract attention, but not too much to the extent that all eyes are totally fixed on you. Remember, it should be the bride who should stand out on her much-awaited moment.

Bridal Accessories Include The Guest Book

Vintage Feather Fascinator Headpiece IVORY Bridal Hair Accessories
When you plan your list of bridal accessories, you need to remember the guest book. The guest book is placed out at the wedding and at the reception so as your guests can sign their names as being a part of your special day. The guest book is special remembrance for the bride and grooms to see who all shared in the special day. The guest book is usually placed right outside the church doors in the back of the church where there is a table. Your guests can then sign their names as they enter or as they leave your ceremony.

At the reception, the guest book is placed on a table close to the card box and the gift table. This way your guests can sign the book as they enter. Remember, not all guests can make the wedding, therefore, the book needs to be placed where reception guests can sign as well. The guest books are found under bridal accessories online and in your local bridal shops as well. You will have many different designs and styles to choose from when you need to find that perfect guest book.

Besides the traditional white satin covered guest books, people have also started designing their own books. If you are having a themed wedding such as a tropical theme, you might want to create a book of your own that matches your theme. You can buy a plain cover book and add palm trees, seashells, or tropical flowers to the front cover. You might even go through the book and add a little decal or stamp a design on every page to highlight your themed wedding. Many brides have taken over the guest book and designs because they want something more personal than the traditional guest books.

Bridal accessories are an important part of the wedding and brides want everything to be just right. Many of the guest books come with a matching pen, which usually sits in a holder attached to the book. These pens are designed in many different ways. You might have a standard looking pen or a pen with a feather topper. Some of the pens come with ribbons, beads, pearls and small bouquets as well. The guest book sets are a great way to keep track of what gifts were receive and from whom it was received. Bridal Crystal Necklace Set N1D74

As you open you gifts on gift opening day, you can have the maid of honor or someone else, find the name and enter the gift they gave you. This will make sending out thank you cards a little easier as well. The correct spelling of the names will already be listed and you just need to copy the information instead of searching for the name to match. Many bridal accessories are left until the week or so before the wedding. If you buy the book early, you can customize it in any way you want if that is your desire. It is better to do your shopping early than later.

Wedding And Traditions

Every Sunday you can hear those chapel bells. Some lucky couple is tying the knot and making it official. This is a time in everyone's life that is memorable to say the least. We love this day. Ideally it should occur only one time for each person. There's the massive cake, the champagne, the jovial crowd and the wonderful wedding traditions. These are the things we look forward to on our day of perfect bliss. The soon-to-be bride paces softly toward her one true love, the father gives her away as the two souls become one with the exchange of rings. Are you prepared for your big day? Timeless Traditions: How to Blend Wedding Customs from Around the World Into Your Own Wedding Ceremony

Who doesn't enjoy wedding traditions? There's the ceremony itself, the honeymoon, and don't forget the pre-celebration. This is the part that so many men look forward to. If not the soon-to-be groom, the buddies throwing the bash. Yep, the bachelor party is a king amongst wedding traditions. It may not be a literal aspect of the wedding, but it sure is a blast nonetheless. I've been to a total of two bachelor parties in my day. One was my brother's and one was my best buddy's. These were two of the craziest bashes I've ever witnessed. You commonly have the group of guys, the booze, and maybe a few "dancers." Most of this celebration is about friendship and letting go of the single lifestyle. Notice that I didn't say it's about getting buck wild with the "dancers." Of course girls have their versions of this as well. They lounge about sipping tea and nibbling on crumpets. Or at least this is what I've heard. The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions: Readings, Rituals, Music, Dances, and Toasts

Probably one of my favorite wedding traditions is the honeymoon. Okay, this is definitely my favorite. This is the part where it's finally just the two of you. Alone at last for a whopping two weeks or so. In my opinion, this is what most of the money should go toward. Although other wedding traditions are imperative, this is the most fun and personal. This is the tradition that's solely meant for the bride and groom. It's about getting pampered, lounging about, and dining at the finest eateries. Where wedding traditions are concerned, I highly recommend you put much thought into the honeymoon. The New Book of Wedding Etiquette: How to Combine the Best Traditions with Today's Flair

Wedding Speeches: What The Brida Need To Say

One of the most daunting tasks for the best man might be what he has to do at the wedding reception. Tradition dictates that the best man has to give a speech, and today, more and more brides are asking their maid or matron of honor to do the same thing. The thing about these wedding speeches is that no one every really knows what to say. Some people are naturally gifted and writing and delivering a great speech, but most people suffer through it, and have no idea what they should do or say.

I have twice now seen people freeze in the middle of wedding speeches out of pure fright. Perhaps there is a lot of pressure to give the perfect speech, and everyone fears their wedding speeches may be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Some people like to use humor, but this can be very tricky. Talking about the couples first date might be funny, but Grandma won’t like it if it involves drinking and public nudity. It’s hard to think of things that may interest everyone and the speakers often feel the pressure of this before they even stand up and open their mouth.

If you have to give a speech soon, you will be glad to know that help is out there. You can find good wedding speeches online that you can customize to the bride and groom. This may help you relax a little, because at least you know at the very least it was a good speech when you started. If you are having trouble personalizing the speech, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Just make sure you pick something appropriate for everyone.

If you want to write your own wedding speeches, make sure you take some time to think it through, and run it by a few people before the big day. Try to stay away from saying anything you wouldn’t want anyone to say about you in front of all of your family and most of your close friends. You can use humor; just make sure you aren’t going to make Aunt Jane pass out. Remember to keep it simple. Great wedding speeches don’t have to be long and detailed; they simply have to come from the heart. If you write something that comes directly from your heart and your love of the couple, you really won’t have anything to worry about.

Games For Your Wedding Reception

We've all been to receptions that are standard - we welcome and celebrate the new married couple, watch them dance, and enjoy cake with them. But creative couples often enjoy coming up with fun games that include the entire guest list.

Including the guests is an excellent way to get people out of their chairs, meeting people they might not otherwise know and feeling like they are truly a part of the celebration, not just observers.

One fun and active game that can be played by all your guests, including grandma as well as the young children, is "want it now". The Alternative Bride's Guide to Wedding Games: 111+ games for your reception, bridal shower, and more!

In this game, you designate a master of ceremonies (if you have a DJ for your wedding reception, this person can serve as the DJ). The MC will have a list of "wants" prepared before the reception. Everyone sits at their tables, and waits to hear the command. The MC says he wants a person with painted toenails. All the women with painted toenails run to the front of the room, toward the MC. Each time a table sends someone to the front first, they get a point.

Points should be tallied during the course of this game and prizes awarded at the end of the game. Be sure to have some obvious "wants", as is the painted toenails, or a man with a mustache or a child with a pink dress. But also include some surprises, like "a man with a brown purse" which will require a man to find a woman at his table with the brown purse and run up to the front of the room with that.Wedding Dash

Another fun wedding reception game that includes all your guests is musical chairs using men as the chairs. All the men line up and kneel on one knee. The women begin playing the game of musical chairs, but when the music stops, they must find a knee to sit on. No "chairs" are removed during the version of the game, but instead people are eliminated when either the man falls down when the woman finds his knee or when the woman falls down. Both are out either way, and if both fall down, they are also both out then (as well as perhaps a bit bruised). This is a fun game that often brings on gales of laughter and adds to a relaxed reception atmosphere.

If many guests are traveling a good distance to the wedding or don't know many other guests, it's always fun to include a game that will allow them to now only get to know each other but the bride and groom as well. For this game, you'll need a MC again, which can be a very outgoing member of the wedding party or the DJ. The reception guests are broken into two groups, which can be as simple as having people count off "1, 2, 1, 2" and so on until the entire guest list is either a "1" or a "2". Then the two groups band together for the duration of the game.

The DJ, or MC, offers a series of questions relating to the bride and groom. The teams should work together to answer the questions, then as quickly as possible provide the answer. The bride and groom will confirm if the answer is correct or not. This is an excellent way for otherwise "stranger" guests to get to know one another and have some fun in the process. It's also an excellent way to get to know the bride and groom!

Organizing games at a wedding reception is a great way to get people involved and make them feel they are truly a part of the celebration. It's also a way to fill time, if the wedding planners know this isn't a "dancing" group or if you want to loosen people up for a long night of celebrating. Whether a small or large wedding, reception games work for just about any group.

In addition, don't assume wedding reception guests will be offended or annoyed by these active games. Most people report to wedding planners they truly enjoy being more active and having fun games to play during a wedding reception. Tradition and etiquette dictates that second weddings should be simple and casual instead of being formal and extravagant. However, the number of second or encore wedding is sharply growing each year. Such ceremony is designed to celebrate two people who want to embark on a new marriage with different partners.

Etiquette In Announcing Your Engagement

Expect you children to be stressed by your move and they will need a certain amount of time to accept the situation.

Engagement rings from the past should not be worn anymore based on second wedding etiquette. All signs of previous relationships should be taken away once planning for the wedding and announcements are made.

Used Wedding Dresses

If you don’t want to shell out a lot of money for your wedding dress, you are not alone. I saved a lot of money on my dress by buying something that was deeply discounted because it was a year off-season. If you can’t find something you like this way, then you might want to consider looking at used wedding dresses. Before you dismiss the idea, remember that many women do this when they use their mother’s or their grandmother’s wedding dress for their wedding day. I know getting a stranger’s dress is not the same thing, but the principle is the same. Eternity by Millennial Sun WHite Size 14 Bridal Gown Wedding Dress LDS Temple Ready Modest

The great thing about used wedding dresses is that they have in most cases only been used once. Most people wear them for their wedding day and they are then cleaned and put away, or sold. Some used wedding dresses are sometimes brand new. Sometimes weddings are cancelled, as we all know, and the bride usually wants to get rid of the dress. This happens not only to get some of her money back, but also to get rid of the memory of the day that never happened.

You can find used wedding dresses everywhere. If you look online, you can find hundreds if not thousands of them from which to choose. Don’t forget to check auction sites like eBay, and classifieds for your area. You have to consider what size you want, and perhaps what style, and this will make your search for used wedding dresses a little easier by helping you weed out what won’t fit or what you don’t like early. If you are looking for a dress for Halloween, you can find them very cheaply in your local thrift store.

One extra expense you may find that you have with used wedding dresses is cleaning. No matter what you do, you want to have the dress cleaned, even if the previous owner claims to have had it done. You will also still have to pay for alterations, but these shouldn’t be too bad. It still beats paying a thousand for a dress you can get for 200. If you are really lucky, you will find a dress that fits perfectly, but this is a rarity. Most bridal stores will do alterations for you if you make an appointment, even if you didn’t get your dress through them. Make sure you call ahead to find out though. If they can’t, they may be able to refer you to someone who can.

Wedding Ceremony Songs

Most people choose to include music in their wedding ceremony. It has been a long standing tradition to have music for the arrival of the bridal party, and also to have a special song for the bride’s last walk as a single women. There is always music that is played after the couple has been declared as married, and this music follows them from the church for their first moments as man and wife. Wedding ceremony songs can be whatever you want, and you don’t have to go with the traditionally used songs if you don’t wish to do so.

When it came time for my husband and I to choose our wedding ceremony songs, I was sure I didn’t want to use the usual “Here Comes The Bride” tune when I walked down the aisle. I had childhood memories of that song, which often included the addition of words that were not so flattering. I wanted something different. When it came time to choose our wedding ceremony songs, we decided to meet with the organist to choose some traditional songs there were fit for a wedding, but may not be as popular.

What I didn’t count on when choosing wedding ceremony songs was the emotional state of my husband. He’s not usually openly emotional about anything, and he often bottles things inside. This never bothered me because he is pretty much the same as most of the men I have known in my life, both family and friends included. When we were listening to some of the wedding ceremony songs we were considering, the organist also played the song I didn’t want. Much to my surprise, tears sprung from the eyes of my husband-to-be and he blurted out that he always imagined me walking down the aisle towards him with that song playing. With a few tears, I was overruled, and we ended up using it because I knew how much it meant to him.

When it comes time for you to choose your wedding ceremony songs,(Wedding Songs: Top 15 Wedding Ceremony Songs) you don’t have to go with the traditional if you don’t want to. You can find suitable songs all over the Internet, and your organist, pianist, or whoever may have suggestions for you in regards to wedding ceremony songs. Take your time in making your decision and find something you both like. Just watch out for your groom, he may really surprise you. Make sure you make him part of the process as well.

Wedding Present

This summer, we have more than a few weddings coming up.  While I look forward to these events with great anticipation, I always have difficulty coming up with an idea for that perfect wedding present.  I know I will also be invited to the bridal showers for these events, which leads me to need two presents instead of just one.

The good thing is that bridal shower presents can generally be purchased from a wedding registry, and if you go to the store early you can get good pick and wind up with something that you really want to give to the recipient.  However, if you wait too long after receiving the invitation, presents will be picked over and you may end up with something that would not be your first choice.  In the end, though, bridal shower presents are generally much easier to purchase than a great wedding present.

I probably over think things, but I try to give a wedding present that goes along with a theme.  For instance, if I know they like being outdoors, one of my favorite gifts to give is a really nice all inclusive picnic basket and a few bottles of wine.  Or, if I purchase something like a mixer I also like to include a few personal recipes or even a full cook book purchased from a store.  Generally, I think it is nice to try to keep a wedding gift on a smaller size scale because it is difficult to transport gifts after a wedding reception.  Trying to keep that in mind, things can get a little dicey!

Many times, the type of wedding gift you give can depend on the area the wedding is taking place.  Some areas of the country have customary gifts, especially if it is given from a family member.  Also, in many areas of the country it is customary to simply give some form of money as a wedding gift.  I know in my area of the country, you very rarely see wedding gifts on the table during the wedding, but there are plenty of cards containing money.  However, when I go to family weddings in the Midwest, a wedding gift is usually a physical present and not money.

I am sure I will find something to give as gifts for my upcoming weddings, and I’m sure I will overanalyze what I end up giving.  I will have to just remember that it is the thought that counts, and if worse comes to worst I can always give the appreciated gift of cash!

A Honeymoon Registry - what is it?

What is a Honeymoon Registry? Going through the internet and looking up ideas, I came across this intriguing concept. There are more couples getting married after they have lived on their own and are established in apartments or homes.

They are often well set up and have many of the traditional wedding gifts such as pots, cutlery, pans, toasters and dishes. Thus the nature of bridal registry has been changing. One offspring solution to this problem is a "Honeymoon Registry".

A Honeymoon Registry Services offers a solution for couples, their friends and family, who still want to buy them meaningful wedding gifts. This is done through a three-step process whereby it is possible to buy parts of the honeymoon as wedding gifts.

First, make contact with your travel agent for assistance in planning your honeymoon. Your travel agent can then suggest different honeymoon destinations and put together packages tailored to your interests.

Step two - your travel agent will then put you in touch with a honeymoon registry service, to finalize your chosen honeymoon activities. Then they set up a registry so that wedding guests can help pay for your dream honeymoon. The honeymoon registry service should be able to make suggestions on possible honeymoon activities.

Step three - after a couples' honeymoon has been planned, the honeymoon registry service can take those plans and put them into a registry list. Instead of the list containing household items, it contains pieces of a couples' honeymoon.
Friends and family can help the couple pay for airfare and resort accommodations, and buy romantic gifts, such as a candlelit dinner. The items on honeymoon registry lists can include activities or "extras" that the couple would like to do on their honeymoon.
Honeymoon registries are a new way of helping the couple, begin their life together. Dishes, toasters and china may break or get old, but a honeymoon gift will always be a memory of a special time in their lives.

Inexpensive Wedding Ideas

Though there are some who want to spend a fortune on their wedding day, many are looking for ways to save money without having to give up on what they see for their big day. I am of the mind that you should never borrow to pay for your wedding, as there are better things you can do with your money. You can have a nice day without owing. If you look around for some inexpensive wedding ideas, you can find ways to get what you want, but at a substantially lower price.

I used quite a few inexpensive wedding ideas when I married. I saved a lot of money by doing this, and I am glad that I did. I did not have to borrow for my wedding, and I was glad that this was not hanging over my head once we got back from our honeymoon. One of the best inexpensive wedding ideas I had was to use the services of friends and family. I have an aunt who is a photographer. She took all of our wedding photos for us as a gift. That saved me a lot of money in one shot, and I got some great photos.

If you want inexpensive wedding ideas like that one, think about your close friends and family. You might be surprised about how eager they are to help you out. I have a sister who is a florist, and she gave me an incredible discount on flowers. I had the flowers I wanted at almost half the price I would have paid anywhere else. My husband’s aunt makes wedding cakes. Ours was gorgeous, and free. There are many great inexpensive wedding ideas that can come from using the services of those who love you.

You may not know a florist or a cake maker, but I would be there are one or two people in your family that can help you out. They may have inexpensive wedding ideas of their own to share with you. I know that I was surprised at the number of ideas and help that was offered to me when I married. Your family may surprise you in the same way. Also remember that the Internet is full of great inexpensive wedding ideas, and with a few clicks of a mouse you can find ways to cut down on cost while still having a beautiful and memorable day.

What is the "Ideal Honeymoon?"

The New Honeymoon Planner: Selecting the Ideal Location and Planning the Trip of a LifetimeSo you are planning your honeymoon - Congratulations! The honeymoon is an important part of the wedding experience. A much-needed break after months of exciting and often exhausting wedding planning!
What is the "Ideal Honeymoon?"

Most people grow up with a preconceived notion of what an ideal honeymoon should involve. However, a bride's idea of tropical paradise and a groom's idea of a ski resort might have some areas of conflict.
Paradise Comes in Many Forms - Different Types of Honeymoons

When it comes to honeymoon planning, most couples try to select the destination first, while travel agents often suggest a more productive way to begin. Unless your dream destination has already been set in stone, first decide what type of vacation you want. Then you can narrow down your list of destinations accordingly.

Resorts are very popular honeymoon destinations. They transport you into another world, for a wonderful escape from the daily grind of everyday life. They are often set in the most picturesque and beautiful places in the world, including pools, private beaches and golf courses. There are wonderful restaurants and relaxing spas for you both to experience.

All-inclusive resorts streamline the enjoyment process by including everything.  Your room, transfers, recreational facilities, meals and drinks are included in the one price. Without the worries of wondering how much everything little thing will cost, you are free to live the high life experiencing everything you want as often as you want it.

If an all-inclusive resort sounds tempting but too stationary, consider taking a cruise. Cruises are often floating resorts, which take you away to one exotic port after another. Whether you want a cultural cruise to the Caribbean region, or a wildlife adventure up the Alaskan coast, your travel agent will match you and your partner to the perfect honeymoon experience!
